Update 1.6.2 is Live!

1.6.2 is finally here! Most of the changes are based on feedback from the community. You can now duel the AI without being removed from the matchmaking queue, Quest players can activate Teleport with their off-hand, and the game has been rebalanced to account for dodging!

The most important balance change is faster mana regeneration. While the regen rate has been increased for everyone, it’s been increased slightly more for players who are unable to dodge. The result is matches that are more fun, more fair, and more exciting than ever. We’ve really enjoyed testing these balance changes, and we hope you enjoy trying them out in Season 13!

Here’s the full list of changes in 1.6.2:

New features

  • Added Valve Index support
  • Added Vive Cosmos support

Improved features

  • Matchmaking is not stopped by dueling the AI
  • Added a casting animation when 6DoF characters use tile-based spells
  • Added Teleport to the off-hand for 6DoF players
  • Improved the AI’s animations
  • Loading has been improved (the game should load more smoothly)
  • Improved input detection for Vive controllers
  • Brightened Lightning Strike’s VFX on Quest

Game balancing

  • 6DoF mana regen increased from 10/s to 12/s
  • 3DoF mana regen increased from 10/s to 15/s
  • Acid Cloud: Cost increased from 35 to 40, can be active on a maximum of 3 tiles at the same time
  • Armor of the Sun: Cost increased from 40 to 50
  • Chaos Leap: Cost increased from 25 to 40
  • Disc of Antioch: Cost increased from 25 to 35
  • Dragon’s Breath: Startup cost increased from 10 to 25, cost per second reduced from 15 to 5
  • Electric Fist: Amount of bolts increased from 5 to 8, damage per bolt reduced from 8 to 5
  • Hail of Death: Firing rate increased by 0.05s
  • Heavenly Dome: Startup cost increased from 15 to 20, cost per second increased from 5 to 20
  • Shield of Light: Startup cost increased from 15 to 20
  • Petrifying Prison: Cost increased from 30 to 35, duration reduced to 3s
  • Teleport: Cost increased from 20 to 25

Bug fixes

  • Numerous bugs involving tile-based spells have been fixed
  • Skull Specter no longer attacks its caster when its tile is occupied
  • Your first match is no longer an exhibition match
  • Skill ratings are now properly displayed on the Monolith
  • Fixed a bug that made matchmaking take longer for first-time players
  • The Celestial Halls portal tile effects do not follow a player who is bounced off it
  • Vive players can now turn using the off-hand touchpad
  • Spell selection is more reliable with Rift controllers when playing via Steam

Season 12 begins today! It will come to a close on November 1st, 2019.

This is the first season for the Oculus Quest, so we expect it to be one of the most exciting seasons yet! Good luck, everyone!

The top players will earn the following rewards at the end of the season:

  • The #1 player will get the “Season 12 Champion” title
  • The top 10 will get “Season 12 Master” titles and the Invicta Wand
  • The top 100 will get “Season 12 Veteran” titles

With this update we’re introducing cross-platform VoIP, something that’s been a major request from our players. We’re also launching on one more platform.

New features

  • Cross-platform VoIP is now a thing in Wands and we’ve taken our time to make sure it’s a grand experience.
  • VoIP can be enabled on the blackboard. Make sure to allow microphone access rights for Wands.
  • We’re releasing Wands in China on a second platform, this time it’s for Xiaomi Mi VR. Available now.

Game balancing

  • Removed Armor buff for Blood Bolt, it now has a consistent cost of 2 hp / bolt.
  • Reduced Chilling Clutch debuff duration from 10 to 5 seconds.
  • Removed cast cost for Dragon’s Breath and increased mana cost per second from 10 to 15.
  • Lowered Lightning Strike charge cost from 15 to 10 mana.
  • Blazing Meteor now deals 12.5 splash damage, regardless of distance to target.

Bug fixes

  • Some animations in the workshop were wrong, they now should look amazing.
  • We resolved some problems with the internationalized versions of Wands.
  • Fixed issue where Twins would cause freezing at the start of a match.
  • Fixed issue where you could add spells to a closed wand in the Workshop.
  • Ortus signs are now correctly rotated.
  • Warden animations now sync properly for both players.
  • Reflected Lightning Strikes now deal damage to their own caster.
  • Dealing damage to a Twin can no longer deal damage to their caster.
  • GearVR/GO: Coordinated app launch now works as intended.
  • GearVR/GO: Invite friend now works as intended.

With the recent release of our major update 1.4 – Sanctum of Sahir we’ve since then been hard at work improving on the feedback we’ve received, not to mention all the extensive QA we’ve done internally.

Today we’re happy to share that we’ve just now pushed out a new update to all our supported platforms that will vastly improve overall experience. Make sure you update to 1.4.0.2 as soon as possible.

As always, there might be a bit of a delay before you’re given the option to update on some of our platforms.

  • Our new arena Sanctum of Sahir should now offer a much more smooth experience across all devices

  • The pausing player can no longer cast spells before their opponent
  • You should no longer encounter invisible opponents when playing in our new arena Sanctum of Sahir
  • The endless loading screen is no more
  • Sometimes the practice hall wouldn’t load for the first time, it will now
  • The locked loadout button should not be possible to interact with
  • Acid Cloud now sound as it should again

The summer season (6) of Wands is now live and the leaderboard should now be completely reset.

We’re excited to see how season 6 will turn out with our new update 1.4 – Sanctum of Sahir in mind.

There’s definitely many things that have changed and should shake up things a bit.
